![]() With that in mind, I'm offering something that I've been doing for years. It's just something I've noticed with a lot (not all, but several) of these posts asking for help making cuts. Things like removal and ramp end up lacking because you're trying to squeeze strategy-specific cards. However, this leads to a common pitfall: in the hopes of squeezing every possible card that might be good or might come up in a game leads to you neglecting some crucial packages that every deck is going to need. What I mean by this is that you are starting with a pool of OVER 100 cards, all of which you think could be good with your commander and your strategy. The inherent issue with making cuts is that you are starting from a "top-down" deckbuilding method. I'd like to offer a more permanent solution, however. Posting here in the hopes of finding some insight from someone more experienced is perfectly reasonable. Let me be clear - there's nothing wrong with this. I see quite a few posts on this sub asking for assistance in making cuts when deck building. If you are already familiar with this, please add anything else that might be helpful in the comments. In this little article, I'll show you a package I have for every major color combination and I'll do an example deck build on Moxfield with screenshots so you can follow along. If you're having trouble building "top-down" (100+ cards then trying to make cuts), instead try one of these base packages and build "bottom-up" (starting with ~50 cards and filling in the rest).
